We are seeking two motivated individuals to serve as the first TAMC Student Fellows, assisting with Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC) projects and initiatives that benefit Monterey County and align with the Middlebury Institute’s mission of fostering understanding, peace, and positive change for a more just world. The TAMC Student Fellows will work closely with the TAMC Faculty Fellow on a variety of tasks, including qualitative research, communications and public outreach in English and Spanish, community engagement, strategy development, and administrative support. The TAMC Fellowship is a partnership between the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS), CoLab, and the Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC), in which students, staff, and faculty collaborate on projects addressing language inclusion, community engagement, sustainability, and livability. Our approach is grounded in the CoLab initiative, which is collaborative, intentional, social justice-oriented, relationship-focused, and community-driven.

Main Responsibilities:

• Participate in project activities facilitated by the TAMC Faculty Fellow.

• Experience developing project materials and public-facing communications.

• Ability to work cooperatively with culturally and linguistically diverse individuals.
• Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
• Solid written and oral communication skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Spanish (ACTFL proficiency scale).
• Willingness and ability to comply with Institute policies, procedures, and mandates.

• This position requires occasional moderate physical activity, including the ability to sit for extended periods, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
• TAMC Student Fellows will travel to different locations in Monterey County, and transportation costs will be reimbursed.

Applications will be reviewed by MIIS faculty/staff and TAMC representatives.

Hour Limitations:

All student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours per week in on campus jobs during the academic year (this includes exam periods). The only exception is when there is a full week when school is not in session. Specifically: February recess, Spring recess, and full weeks of December or summer recess. During these time periods only, students can work up to 40 hours per week.
