TalentED
TalentED is an exciting and evolving program under the CED portfolio. TalentED aims to generate 2,000 work-based learning opportunities for youth aged 18–24 by engaging small- to medium-sized businesses and non-profit organizations across the Greater Calgary region. This initiative will strengthen employer engagement with youth through an innovative and collaborative approach.
Job Summary
The Community Engagement Intern will work with TalentED’s Employer and Community Engagement team to promote the benefits of hiring youth for work-based learning (WBL) opportunities. The intern will have the opportunity to provide support for community engagement initiatives, including AI training and related programming. This role works closely with the Community Engagement Specialist and Manager of Employer and Community Engagement.
This is a summer opportunity with a minimum in-office requirement of three days per week.
Term: 12 weeks.
Key Responsibilities
Community & Stakeholder Support
Support relationship-building efforts with community organizations, youth employment centres, and post-secondary institutions (PSIs) by assisting with outreach, meeting coordination, and follow-up communications.
Maintain accurate contact lists and stakeholder records to support ongoing community engagement activities.
Assist the team in ensuring engagement activities are inclusive and responsive to youth from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds.
Event Coordination
Assist with the planning, coordination, and delivery of in-person and virtual AI training (e.g., logistics, scheduling, materials, registration) for youth and employers.
Assist with external event preparation, setup, and takedown; staff booths; and support engagement activities such as registering youth and employers on the TalentED Matching Platform.
Collect attendance data and participant feedback from events and activities to support continuous improvement.
Work-Based Learning Support
Support coordination of requests from community organizations and PSIs related to work-based learning opportunities (e.g., projects, placements, apprenticeships).
Assist with tracking youth participation, assessment completion, and follow-up activities.
Support communication between Community Engagement and Employer Engagement team members by sharing relevant information related to youth readiness, program offerings, and placement opportunities.
Resource & Content Development
Research prospective community organizations and create list of potential collaborators for TalentED.
Assist in updating and organizing resources, templates, and reference materials related to community engagement and events.
Gather feedback from stakeholders and flag opportunities for improving tools, resources, or processes.
Data Tracking & Administrative Support
Enter and maintain accurate information in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, HubSpot, and through Excel spreadsheets.
Support survey distribution and collection from youth.
Assist with data compilation and basic reporting to support program monitoring and evaluation.
Participate in team meetings and cross-functional collaboration.
Take on additional supportive tasks as assigned to help advance team and project goals.
Education
Business Administration, Community Development, Project Management, or a related field

Alberta Youth Employment Incentive Eligibility
Hired youth must:
Be an Alberta resident and Canadian citizen or PR
Be between 15-24 years of age at the start of employment
Not be working with the same employer applicant and/or in the same position at the time of and prior to the employer applying for the incentive
Ineligible youth:
Business owners or board members
An immediate family member of the employer or someone who has authority over the employer
Any youth working in Canada temporarily (i.e. temporary foreign workers)
