Job Description – Tableau Developer (Azure / SQL Server Environment)

Role Overview

We are looking for a Tableau Developer to design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and analytics solutions in a Microsoft-centric environment leveraging Azure and SQL Server. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in Tableau visualization, SQL Server data modeling, and Azure-based data platforms.

This role will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and BI teams to transform raw data into meaningful insights that support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Tableau dashboards, reports, and data visualizations for business users.

• Connect Tableau to SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse, and other enterprise data sources.

• Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views to support reporting requirements.

• Collaborate with data engineers and architects to ensure efficient data models and pipelines.

• Develop and maintain Tableau data sources, extracts, and live connections.

• Implement best practices for dashboard design, performance tuning, and data governance.

• Work with stakeholders to gather reporting and analytics requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

• Monitor and improve dashboard performance, refresh schedules, and data accuracy.

• Support deployment and maintenance of reports on Tableau Server / Tableau Cloud.

• Ensure data security, role-based access control, and compliance with organizational standards.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

• Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server / Tableau Cloud
• Strong SQL skills with Microsoft SQL Server / T-SQL
• Experience with Azure data services, such as:

Azure SQL Database

Azure Synapse Analytics

Azure Data Factory

Azure Data Lake Storage

• Experience in data modeling (Star Schema, Dimensional Modeling)
• Understanding of ETL / ELT processes

Additional Technical Exposure (Preferred)

• Power BI exposure
• Azure DevOps for deployment pipelines
• Python or scripting for automation
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric
• Knowledge of data governance and data quality frameworks

Experience Requirements

• 4 – 8 years experience in BI / Analytics development
• Minimum 3+ years of hands-on Tableau development
• Experience working with Azure-based data platforms
• Experience supporting enterprise BI reporting environments

Education

Bachelor's degree in:

• Computer Science
• Information Technology
• Data Analytics
• Engineering
