Job Description
Location: Singapore, Singapore
Thales is a global technology leader trusted by governments, institutions, and enterprises to tackle their most demanding challenges. From quantum applications and artificial intelligence to cybersecurity and 6G innovation, our solutions empower critical decisions rooted in human intelligence. Operating at the forefront of aerospace and space, cybersecurity and digital identity, we’re driven by a mission to build a future we can all trust.
In Singapore, Thales has been a trusted partner since 1973, originally focused on aerospace activities in the Asia-Pacific region. With 2,000 employees across three local sites, we deliver cutting-edge solutions across aerospace (including air traffic management), defence and security, and digital identity and cybersecurity sectors. Together, we’re shaping the future by enabling customers to make pivotal decisions that safeguard communities and power progress.
As a System Solution Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in bridging commercial strategy and technical design. Working closely with Sales, Solution Architects, and Engineering teams, you will evaluate solution architecture, analyze technical requirements, and develop accurate cost models. You will also focus on the design, integration, and validation of complex technical solutions to ensure solutions meet functional, performance and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities:
• Engage customers and stakeholders to gather and translate requirements into clear system definitions, solution boundaries, and cost implications
• Lead proposal consolidation and support solution design definition, working with Architects, Engineers, Subcontractors, and partners to produce practical and compliant responses
• Consolidate subsystem specifications and validate proposed solutions against requirements, ensuring traceability and identifying gaps or misalignments early
• Ensure compliance and test case requirements are clearly defined and captured during the requirements gathering phase, so that delivered solutions can be systematically validated against contractual, regulatory, and technical acceptance criteria.
• Assess scalability, integration, and deployment considerations alongside technical teams, flagging risks and trade-offs throughout the design process
• Build and maintain Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models, cost estimates, and work package definitions to give Bid teams a solid foundation for proposal submissions
• Support delivery and account managers in walking customers through solution approaches, effort justifications, and costing discussions in a clear and credible way
• Develop and maintain technical documentation across the proposal and delivery lifecycle, and participate in technical reviews and validation activities at key project milestones
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, with at least 5 years of experience in systems engineering or analyst role
• Strong analytical and communication skills, comfortable bridging technical and business conversations, with a self-driven mindset and the ability to take ownership and deliver work independently.
• Hands-on experience preparing cost or effort estimates for technical projects, with exposure to subcontractor or vendor management being an advantage
• Background in security projects, complex IT systems, supporting government projects is a plus, as is familiarity with systems engineering frameworks such as INCOSE ASEP or CSEP
Good to Have
Prior exposure to one or more of the following areas helps ground solution discussions in technical reality, though deep expertise across all is not expected:
• Software specification, test case definition and SDLC methodologies
• Familiarity with systems engineering tools such as Polarion for requirements management and traceability
• Familiarity with core infrastructure concepts such as hypervisors, storage, operating systems and system monitoring
• Exposure to modern delivery practices including DevOps, containerisation, backup and recovery strategies, and high availability / fault tolerance design
