Job Description
1.Research, plan, install and upgrade operating systems of moderate to high complexity:
Plan, install, and ensure quality of operating systems hardware, software and products.
Collect requirements for existing operating systems hardware, software and products.
Research and evaluate new and existing software for its applicability.
Develop/modify operating software programs to meet needs.
Install new releases and fixes to operating systems software.
Provide quality assurance through testing of products prior to installation of technology on production platforms.
2. Support operating systems (hardware and software):
Provide 24 hours, 7 days a week, and problem resolution for technology hardware, operating systems software, and infrastructure products for assigned area of responsibility.
Analyze, document, and resolve operational, procedural, and software problems of moderate to high complexity.
Perform data collection, problem debugging, root cause analysis and resolution for problems with operating systems software and programs. Provide guidance/coaching to junior team members regarding problem resolution as required.
3. Monitor and tune performance of operating systems:
Pro-actively monitor and tune performance of operating systems software, hardware, and applications.
Analyze application response on platforms of moderate to high complexity as assigned.
Conduct evaluations of equipment, capacity, and software use, and make recommendations to deal with any performance/productivity issues.
Provide capacity planning support for storage and processors across platforms.
4. Provide consulting services:
Solicit input for technology requirements from customers.
Contribute ideas, expertise and experience towards the formulation of technical direction for operating software, hardware and other technology products for highly complex applications and platforms.
Participate with and advise application developers in the appropriate use of technology.
5. Maintain technology currency, trends and directions:
Maintain constant communication with technology providers and industry specialists to keep abreast of current/future industry trends and directions.
Provide input to technology strategies, objectives and plans.
6. Work in compliance with all laws and regulations and attend or complete all required health and safety training, report all accidents and take every precaution reasonable to ensure personal safety and the safety of others. Perform other duties as required.
