Job Description

This resource will be responsible for designing and building the required interfaces / system integration between the various software components. The resource must be technically adept and able to break user requirements down into architectural designs.

Key responsibilities:

• Perform the detailed design of application, integration and technical architecture components
• Design the solutions for high availability, scalability and performance
• Identify and analyse alternate architectures
• Design the flow and sequencing of events within the integration solution across applications
• Validate that the integration functional designs meet the overall business process integration requirements and are consistent with the Integration Conceptual Design
• Develop common test data
• Configure, build, and test the application, integration or technical architecture components
• Work with other developers, designers, and architects to make sure that the configuration and custom components meet application requirements and performance goals
• Follow good security coding practices to ensure the application is free of most common coding vulnerabilities
• Participate in code reviews
• Inform the technical architect and project manager of any issues that may affect any other areas of the project
• Identify cross-team dependencies early in the project life cycle
• Participate in transitions of the application, integration or technical architecture components to the testers
• Fix any defects and performance problems discovered in testing
• Document the application to facilitate maintenance

Skills / Experience Required:

• Ability to work independently with minimal assistance
• Ability to understand and factor user requirements into architecture
• Software development/programming experience
• Strong problem solving skills: able to logically break down a problem into smaller manageable parts to solve
• Knowledge of how to develop other aspects of the application
• Trained in the base programming language of the selected software package
• Experience implementing an enterprise integration architecture solution
• Experience implementing cross-application business processes
• Knowledge of the selected packaged integration architecture components
• Experience in SAP Netweaver would be beneficial
• Understanding of object oriented analysis and design concepts preferred
• Basic knowledge of the Unified Markup Language (UML) preferred for design documentation
• Strong communication skills, written and oral
• SAP Requirements
• Strong understanding of Revenue Processes
• Strong understanding of the Meter to Cash (M2C) process
• SAP experience will be critical
• SAP ISU background and experience with SAP system processes
• Integration experience in terms of:
 Experience with 3rd Party integration to SAP
 SAP PI knowledge and experience is important
 Writing / understanding / design file specifications
 Field mapping when working with file specs, XML, integration
 Design and Implementation experience with regard to Web Services is important
 FTP integration would be beneficial
 Understanding of the metering context at a Utility will be beneficial
 Exposure to Meter Data Management System (MDMS) would be beneficial

Qualifications:

• Matric and relevant bachelor’s degree or diploma
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in complex application design
• The following would be advantageous:
- Recognized Certifications such as MCSE
- 3 year degree in Computer Science/Information Systems
- Appropriate and recognized formal IT training/experience
• Minimum 4 years relevant experience
• Previous experience in structured program design and coding, systems analysis and design, data analysis
• 3+ years of experience in service oriented and integration architectures, SOA infrastructure components, and middleware
• 2+ years of experience in process architecture, business process modelling, and BPM product components
• Experience with relevant tools and software
• Years of relevant experience required: 3 years
