The Porto-based team collaborates closely with colleagues in the UK, India, North America, and Latin America, contributing to Oracle Retail systems integration, solution design, and continuous improvement initiatives that support global retail operations.
Our Portugal-based professionals are actively involved in large-scale Oracle Retail implementations, cloud initiatives, system upgrades, and omnichannel retail transformation programs, combining strong technical expertise with a strong understanding of European retail markets.
The Role
The Systems Administrator supports day-to-day IT operations in the Porto office, remotely across the EMEA region, and on global projects as part of a wider IT team.
This is a skilled generalist role spanning helpdesk support and laptop setup through to network infrastructure and systems administration. The role requires someone who can work independently while staying closely aligned with the global IT team on workloads, priorities, and projects.
Location: Fully on-site at the OLR Porto office
In this role, you’ll:
General
Respond to support requests in a timely and appropriate manner using JIRA Service Desk.
Collaborate with global Systems Administrators to balance workloads and pursue further learning.
Establish and maintain local vendor and service provider relationships.
Maintain accurate records for software, hardware, warranties, backups, and repairs.
Desktop Support
Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot employee devices (hardware and software).
Support Windows 11 and standard desktop applications including Microsoft Office, Edge, Chrome, and Firefox.
Proactively evaluate and propose improvements to software images, laptop models, and configurations.
Systems & Network Administration
Troubleshoot network issues by evaluating hosts files, routes, DNS, and VPN split tunnels.
Perform routine router and switch maintenance including VLANs, ACLs, IP routes, and site-to-site IPSec tunnels.
Design, configure, and maintain Windows Server infrastructure: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and DFS.
Configure and maintain Linux servers (primarily AlmaLinux and Oracle Enterprise Linux) for internal infrastructure and developer environments.
Support and improve Office 365 services including Exchange Online, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
Contact vendor support as needed for hardware and software under warranty (Juniper, Lenovo, Proxmox).
Proactively monitor systems and anticipate future needs.
Documentation
Develop and maintain clear documentation for infrastructure design, configuration, and support — written for both end users and fellow administrators.
Experience & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 2 - 3 years of experience, or equivalent
Proven experience in technical support and infrastructure management
Industry certifications, especially CCNA
Experience in a global business with a distributed IT team
Fluency in English (spoken and written)
Experience with Juniper SRX gateways and JunOS, including IPSec and OpenVPN
Windows and Linux server administration: DHCP, DNS, LDAP, Active Directory, AD FS, Postfix, web servers
Familiarity with Proxmox VE across a variety of hardware and OS configurations
Experience with Office 365 administration including Exchange Online and SharePoint
Sound knowledge of Windows DFS Namespaces
Ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with team and leadership
Strong documentation habits and teamwork skills
High ethical standards of discretion and confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with provisioning frameworks (Chef preferred; Ansible or Puppet also considered)
Experience with ISO 27001
