Job Description

The Systems Verification Engineering Specialist for Operation will be supporting the development and execution of key system verification and validation plans as part of the overall constellation “Integration, Verification and Validation” (IVV) Strategy of the Telesat LEO constellation Network.


Role::
• The System Verification Engineering Specialist - Operations: will report to the Director of Constellation System Verification (CSV)
• They will help to coordinate work between CSV team, Network Operations teams and functional groups for the Telesat Lightspeed LEO constellation, ensuring the system is ready for deployment, Network Over-The-Air testing (OTA), and System end-to-end acceptance testing.


Responsibilities::
• Operational Readiness: With support from the wider CSV team, lead the transition from system development to system deployment by coordinating the system readiness planning between Segment teams and the Network Operations teams
• Test Environment Management: Support the development of pre-production and production environments (including transitions between environments) required for initial and full network verification and deployment
• Verification Execution: Help to develop and maintain verification strategy, verification matrices, test philosophies, and procedures; participate in hardware/software reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, TRB & DRB) plus coordination of the CSV led System Readiness Review (SysRR).
• Integration Coordination: Synchronize terrestrial network deployment tasks across segment teams to ensure hardware, software, and documentation are ready in time for satellite deployment
• Technical Collaboration: Partner with engineering and cross-functional teams to validate system performance and ensure seamless communication across network segments
• System Readiness Delivery: Ensures all operational pre-production and production systems meet Lightspeed readiness and mission objectives through timely delivery and completion of all necessary verification tasks
• Able to get stuff done: Working within a large multi-disciplinary team, have the ability to identify key issues, identify solution and drive them to consultation efficiently and effectively


Essential Qualifications & Experience:
• Education: BSc/BEng or Master’s in; aerospace, Systems, Electrical/RF, or Computer Engineering or a related field
• Experience: 6–10 years in requirements-based testing/verification for complex Aerospace or Telecommunication systems.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Project Management, configuration control, Production and system quality control, non-conformance management, and system engineering verification protocols


Preferred Assets & Experience:
• Experience in performing Aerospace/Space or Network integration and test activities, using Electrical and RF test systems
• System Engineering Design, development, and Operational Deployment of complexes Communication Networks
• Project or Program Management (PMP) experience of managing complex technical systems and organizing multi-disciplinary technical teams


Working Conditions::
• Full time role at Telesat’s Ottawa office, with hybrid work environment
• Working conditions are generally comfortable typical of an office environment
• Canadian and international travel may be required


The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP) and Reliability
