Job Description

Company Overview:

ANSER enhances national and homeland security by strengthening public institutions. We provide thought leadership for complex issues through independent analysis, and we deliver practical, useful solutions. ANSER values collaboration, integrity, and initiative and we are client focused in all that we do. Because we were established for the purpose of public service and not for profit, we measure our success in the impact of our service.

Interested in joining ANSER as a System Integration Engineer or Analyst, but don’t see a current opening that matches your experience?

We’d still love to connect with you! Please send us your resume, and we’ll keep your information on file for future opportunities that align with your background and expertise.

As a System Integration Engineer or Analyst at ANSER, you’ll help shape and optimize complex technical environments by guiding system integration processes, supporting cloud-based solutions, and applying core systems engineering principles. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure systems are secure, scalable, and aligned with client mission objectives—often across defense, homeland security, and intelligence domains.

Most roles are based in the greater Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. area and require on-site work five days a week. Some roles may offer hybrid, but this is evaluated on a case-by-case basis based on federal agency guidance and is not typical for most positions.

General Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Provide expert guidance on system integration approaches, interface management, and process improvements across hybrid and cloud-based environments.

• Apply systems engineering principles to support requirements analysis, solution architecture, integration strategy, validation, and testing.

• Design and integrate systems with a strong understanding of object-oriented design and modular system architecture.

• Collaborate with engineering teams, cybersecurity personnel, and mission stakeholders to ensure secure and efficient system performance.

• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve integration issues across distributed environments.

• Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation including system architecture diagrams, interface control documents (ICDs), and standard operating procedures.

• Ensure system designs incorporate cybersecurity best practices, comply with relevant frameworks (e.g., NIST, RMF), and support secure system-to-system communication.

• Support and advise on continuous integration, automation, and DevSecOps practices.

• Other duties or task related to system integration as required.

General Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

• 3+ years of experience in system integration, systems engineering, or IT architecture—preferably supporting federal, defense, or intelligence missions.

• Practical experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including understanding of cloud-native services and integration methods in a government cloud environment.

• Knowledge of object-oriented design, modular architectures, and scalable system integration.

• Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices, secure systems design, and compliance frameworks such as NIST, RMF, or FISMA.

• Experience with systems modeling tools and process documentation (e.g., SysML, Cameo, Visio, Jira, Confluence).

• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders through integration planning and execution.

• Active security clearance or the ability to obtain one may be required depending on the position.
