System Engineer - VMWare ESXi/vSphere (REF4899X)

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated System Engineer with extensive experience in VMWare ESXi/vSphere to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our virtualized environments to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and reliability.

VMWare Infrastructure Management:

• Design, deploy, and manage VMWare ESXi hosts and vSphere environments.
• Perform regular maintenance, updates, and upgrades of VMWare infrastructure.
• Monitor and optimize the performance of virtual machines and hosts.

Virtualization Planning and Implementation:

• Plan and execute the migration of physical servers to virtual environments.
• Develop and implement virtualization strategies to improve system efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Ensure high availability and disaster recovery configurations are in place and tested regularly.

System Administration:

• Manage and maintain VMWare vCenter Server, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Perform routine system checks, backups, and restorations to maintain data integrity and availability.
• Create and manage virtual networks, storage configurations, and resource allocation within VMWare environments.

Security and Compliance:

• Implement security best practices within the VMWare environment, including patch management and access controls.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards.
• Conduct regular audits and assessments of the virtual infrastructure.

Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

• Provide advanced technical support for VMWare-related issues, including root cause analysis and problem resolution.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve complex technical problems and improve system performance.
• Document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and future reference.

Capacity Planning and Performance Management:

• Analyze and forecast capacity requirements to support business growth and new initiatives.
• Implement performance monitoring tools and techniques to ensure optimal system performance.
• Recommend and implement improvements to enhance scalability and efficiency.

Collaboration and Training:

• Work closely with other IT teams, developers, and stakeholders to support project initiatives and business requirements.
• Provide training and guidance to junior team members and end-users on VMWare best practices and functionalities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Proven experience as a System Engineer with a strong focus on VMWare ESXi/vSphere.
• Extensive knowledge of VMWare vCenter, vSAN, vRealize, and related technologies.
• Strong understanding of network and storage infrastructure as it relates to virtualization.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., VCP, VCAP) are highly desirable.
• Hybrid working in Hungary: at least 1 office day/week

Skills:

• Proficiency in VMWare ESXi and vSphere administration.
• Experience with VMWare automation tools (PowerCLI, vRealize Orchestrator).
• Solid understanding of networking concepts (VLANs, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP).
• Knowledge of storage solutions (SAN, NAS) and their integration with VMWare.
• Ability to write and maintain clear technical documentation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
