Job Description
We currently have a vacancy for a System Administrator fluent in English, to offer his/her services as an expert who will be based in Ispra, Italy. The work will be carried out either on the company’s premises or on site at the customer premises. In the context of the first assignment, the successful candidate will be integrated in the Development team of the company that will closely cooperate with a major client’s IT team on site.
Your tasks
• Provide IT support for the development, operation, and maintenance of project IT environments;
• Manage and support centralized IT services in collaboration with internal teams;
• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain server and workstation operating systems (Windows & Linux);
• Monitor systems, troubleshoot hardware/software issues, and coordinate with IT support teams when needed;
• Administer Linux servers supporting data collection, databases, and web applications (PostgreSQL, Docker, Apache);
• Manage backups, restores, and storage systems to ensure data integrity and availability;
• Automate tasks through scripting and maintain system configurations;
• Monitor system performance, logs, and security events; perform tuning and capacity planning;
• Provide user administration and first/second-level support to a small user base;
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and asset inventory;
• Coordinate IT service requests, including user provisioning, hardware, software, and network access;
• Ensure compliance with IT security policies and best practices;
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, and stakeholders to support project needs
Requirements:
• University degree in IT or relevant discipline, combined with minimum 14 years of relevant working experience in IT;
• At least 5 years of experience in Linux system administration;
• At least 5 years of experience in containerization tools: Docker, Kubernetes;
• Experience in Windows system administration;
• Experience in script programming (bash);
• Experience with data backup/restore tools and practices for both database and operating systems;
• Excellent knowledge of Ubuntu Linux;
• Excellent knowledge of Container management with Docker swarm management, CI/CD and Gitlab server management;
• Excellent knowledge of WildFly;
• Excellent knowledge of monitoring tools;
• Good knowledge of Web Servers;
• Good knowledge of virtualisation tools and techniques;
• Good knowledge of TCP/IP network management;
• Knowledge of master-slave database concept (PostgreSQL);
• Knowledge of Ansible;
• Knowledge of application development environments;
• The following certification is mandatory: ITIL;
• Experience with Liferay would be considered an asset;
• Excellent command of the English language.
