Job Description:
The Google Administrator is responsible for server back up and security, along with performance tuning and capacity planning.
This position will be providing support for State of Iowa agencies and departments as they seek solutions within the Google Apps for Government product set. As the State moves to Google agencies are looking for recommendations to solve problems either as a cause of the migration, or to fill future needs.
The Google Administrator is responsible for server back up and security, along with performance tuning and capacity planning. Familiarity with most basic system administrator tools and process; for example, can boot/shutdown a machine, add and remove user accounts, use back up programs, and maintain system database files. Responsible for operating and other system software; responsible for upgrading the operating and system software and keeping patches current. Able to do minimal debugging and modification of programs, execute the disaster recovery/back up procedures and archiving procedures. Able to maintain file and print capacity.
The candidate should possess an understanding of network and distributed computing concepts. This is accomplished by working with the Systems Management Team Lead to understand the scope of services to be provided and assessing the impact they will have on the technical infrastructure. Must have the ability to work in a team environment. Completes assigned tasks. Possesses strong communication skills; both written and spoken.
Required Skills:
• Ability to with agencies and department to identify areas of need that can be solved through Google Apps for Government
• Knowledge with Google for Business or Google for Government native Applications including but not limited to Google Drive, Forms, Docs, Sheets
• Working Knowledge with Google Sites with the ability to implement as a solution for existing State sites including SharePoint, where appropriate.
• Knowledge with Google App Store options and Chrome Extensions as solutions for specific State requirements.
• Knowledge with conveying technical and functional concepts for Google Apps for Government, identifies improvements to project standards
