Why we have this role:
The Swine Nutrition Summer Student will support the Swine Nutrition team in evaluating a research initiative. This includes conducting an initial literature review, helping develop a research protocol, coordinating and executing on-farm trials with customers, and generating meaningful deliverables for both internal teams and external customers.
This role offers hands-on exposure to applied research, commercial swine nutrition, and real-world on-farm experience.
Working with us:
This is a 4-month co-op placement running from May through August 2026. As a full-time member of our Nutrition Team, your typical working hours will be Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Because this role includes on-farm work, there may be times when your hours vary. You’ll work primarily from our Head Office at 151 Savage Drive in Cambridge, with occasional travel of up to two hours one-way. Mileage will be reimbursed for travel as required. A valid Canadian driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required.
What you’ll do:
On-Farm Research Projects
Support a swine research project from planning through on-farm execution
Review literature and help summarize findings for internal teams and customers
Coordinate and attend farm visits while following safety and biosecurity protocols
Collect and organize research data using Excel and other tools
Assist with evaluating and presenting results alongside the Swine Nutrition team
Swine Nutrition Support
Learn commercial swine nutrition through hands-on training
Assist with formulation systems, data analysis, and pricing models
Support additional projects based on interest and team needs
Your background includes:
Currently pursuing a degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, or a related field
On-farm experience is considered an asset
Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
Genuine interest and passion for the swine industry
A valid Canadian driver’s license and access to a vehicle
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
Strong curiosity and desire to learn, research, and ask questions
