Sustainability Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Implement Grecotel’s sustainability strategy and environmental goals.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability standards across all hotels, including Green Key, Travelife, ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems), and ISO 20121 (Sustainable Events Management).
• Conduct regular sustainability auditsto identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to established protocols.
• Stay informed about emerging trends in sustainable hospitality and propose innovations for continuous improvement.
• Develop and deliver sustainability training programs for employees to foster a culture of environmental awareness and responsibility.
• Monitor and optimize waste reduction strategies, ensuring compliance with Grecotel’s sustainability targets.
• Oversee waste separation, recycling programs, and food waste composting at each hotel.
• Implement monitoring systems to track waste generation per hotel, set reduction targets, and ensure proper disposal methods.
• Collect and record water analysis results from all sources across Grecotel hotels in Crete.
• Ensure compliance with water conservation strategies, monitor water consumption and promote reduction initiatives.
• Prepare detailed reports, sustainability performance metrics, and presentations on relevant environmental and safety topics.
• Draft content for informational brochures, websites, and guest awareness materials related to Grecotel’s sustainability initiatives.
• Engage with local stakeholders and authorities to support environmental projects and regulatory compliance.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a sustainability role, ideally in hospitality or environmental management.
• Demonstrated experience in implementing sustainability strategies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and drive actionable improvements.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with internal teams and external partners.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of Greek environmental regulations and sustainability reporting requirements is a plus.
