Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking a Surgical Technologist II for a top healthcare client in Roanoke, VA.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a high-acuity surgical environment alongside experienced surgeons and nurses, supporting a wide range of surgical specialties. The Surgical Technologist will play a key role in maintaining sterile technique, anticipating surgical team needs, and ensuring patient safety and procedural efficiency.
Job Responsibilities
• Assist surgeons and nurses during procedures by preparing instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Establish and maintain a sterile field, ensuring all members of the surgical team adhere to aseptic technique.
• Demonstrate correct and safe instrumentation passing and handling.
• Participate in surgical counts (sponges, needles, and instruments) in accordance with policy.
• Adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards related to patient safety and quality care.
• Support educational and professional development activities within the department.
Requirements:
Education
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Must hold a current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, or have completed an approved military program in surgical technology.
Experience
• No prior experience required; new graduates welcome.
Certifications/Licenses
• Certification in Surgical Technology required.
• AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
• Must maintain registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professions.
Skills or Competencies
• Strong understanding of surgical instrumentation and sterile field setup.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Attention to detail and ability to anticipate surgical team needs.
