Job Title: Surgical Scheduler
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $26.50 per hour
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Surgical Scheduler to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the surgical scheduling process and ensuring smooth communication between patients, providers, and third-party services. This role plays a key part in managing the patient's surgical journey—from initial
indication to the day of surgery.
Key Responsibilities:
Schedule surgical procedures and related appointments.
Manage patient surgical files from initial
indication through to the operating room.
Complete and fax required paperwork to the OR and Pre-Admission Testing (PAT).
Order special equipment and surgical supplies as needed.
Fax prescriptions to Primary Care Physicians (PCP) and Cardiology offices for pre-surgical clearance.
Order braces, stimulators, or other medical devices required for surgery.
Contact PCP and Cardiology offices to obtain surgical clearances.
Schedule pre- and post-operative appointments as needed.
Fax completed surgery packets to the hospital once the chart is finalized.
Call patients the day before surgery to confirm details and answer questions.
Handle third-party scheduling and equipment ordering related to surgical needs.
Answer incoming phone calls and return messages promptly.
Make confirmation calls to ensure all pre-surgical steps are completed.
Perform scanning and documentation of all relevant paperwork.
Assist with other administrative tasks as assigned by the Surgical Scheduling Manager.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in surgical scheduling or medical office administration preferred.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently.
Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures is a plus.
Proficient in using office equipment and standard software applications (e.g., fax, EMR systems).
