The Surgery Scheduler coordinates all logistics for surgical procedures, acting as the central liaison between physicians, patients and outside facilities. They manage scheduling software, coordinate pre/post-operative appointments, and ensure necessary equipment is prepared to facilitate a seamless, efficient patient experience.
Essential Responsibilities (Non-Occupational Exposure):
Under the physician's direction, schedule the appropriate procedure with the surgical facility.
Discuss and coordinate the surgery/procedure with the patient.
Obtain the patient’s consent for surgery and prepare all necessary paperwork.
Arrange preoperative physicals.
Advocate for patients to alleviate their fears and respond to their questions.
Answer phone calls from the surgical facilities, nurses, and other physician offices on behalf of OFC physicians. Relay information and communicate with the OFC physicians and advanced practice providers.
Assist with arranging appointments for outside referrals, EMG testing, and spine injections.
Support and assist the spine coordinators, as assigned.
Prepare documentation and imaging being sent to surgical facilities for preoperative nursing staff and physicians.
Maintain AAOS (total knee and hip) registry.
Assist the surgery scheduling department head, as assigned, with arranging required meetings, upcoming depositions, and court appearances while preparing the physicians’ schedules. Inform the physicians of schedule changes and updates. Schedules include satellite clinics, surgery, call schedules, and office days.
Completion of all required compliance and safety training.
Performs special projects or other duties as assigned.

Mankato office: 1431 Premier Drive | Mankato, MN 56001
Full-time position M-F 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with flexibility.
Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong keyboarding and computer skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Preferred Requirements:
Certificate in medical administration or previous experience in healthcare setting.
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, coding and basic medical insurance terminology.
Experience with insurance authorizations and eligibility.
