Job Purpose:
Our client is looking for a Support Worker to work with male adults with learning and physical disabilities in a Day Centre based in South East London. Candidates will be expected to support the service users aspects of personal care, build trusty bonds, encourage independence and participate in activities with the service users to help strengthen their skills.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support aspects of personal care including feeding, toileting and maintaining personal hygiene
• Support and encourage the service users to live as independently as possible
• Follow safeguarding guidelines and report any concerns to the appropriate person
• Provide service users with medication
• Building excellent, professional and trusting bonds with the service users and making sure they are happy and comfortable whilst using the service
• Carry out risk assessments
• Ensuring the Day Centre is safe at all times
Hours:
This is a part time role: Monday to Friday working 4.5 hours a day. Overtime may be offered but is optional.
Candidate Profile:
• Must hold an enhanced Adult workforce DBS certificate that is registered on the update service
• A Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care is ideal but not essential
• Training in Safeguarding Adults, First Aid, Administration of Medicine and Manual Handling are essential
• Previous experience in working with vulnerable adults is essential
• Good written and verbal communication
Please note this is a contracted position of 3-6 months with the possibility of extension depending on budgets and performance.
