Introduction
In order to develop and expand the capabilities of SAFRAN Engineering Services in the UK, we are looking to recruit Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer. The Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for:
• Working with suppliers, design engineering, operations, and supply chain to select qualified suppliers and enhance supplier performance, ensuring a positive impact on the quality of both new and existing products
• Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers to better understand their processes while offering assistance as well as training to make sure their deliverables meet Safran quality standards
The individual will work in close contact with the customer and stakeholders across the business. Key communication and engagement to maintain customer satisfaction and confidence is critical. The role will fully based onsite at Pitstone, Hertfordshire.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for ensuring quality compliance of parts / materials to meet product / part specification and standard relate
• Control and monitor parts quality and on time delivery of suppliers
• Lead effort to resolve supplier quality issues
• Review and analyze supplier non-conformance reports, perform internal investigation and participate in material review board
• Work directly with supplier to investigate root cause and identify / follow up corrective actions
• Verify effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions
• Issue NCR and or 8D to suppliers and coordinate with purchase team to follow their corrective action
• Perform supplier audits to evaluate supplier compliance to SAFRAN requirements and audits required for supplier approval / re-approval process.
• Follow up on corrective actions resulting from audit findings
• Investigate supplier‑related non‑conformances and lead structured problem‑solving
• Implement quality-related action plans to enable suppliers to achieve an acceptable performance level
• Provide assistance to suppliers on new products, process capability improvements, quality systems development
• Assist supplier on product qualification and first article inspection activities
• Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activity as assigned from manager
• Assure that all supplier quality related activities are conducted in compliance with the SAFRAN Standard
• Drive supplier development initiatives to reduce cost of poor quality and improve process capability
• Work with Engineering Team and Sourcing team to evaluate potential suppliers
• Work with Engineering on design changes, manufacturability, and specification clarity & partner with Procurement to manage supplier risk and strategic sourcing decisions
Requirements:
• Degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field
• Experience of working with AS9100 standards and auditing
• Experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or process engineering
• Strong understanding of quality tools (FMEA, SPC, MSA, PPAP, APQP)
• Solid problem solving, diagnostic and analytical skills through demonstrable application of continuous improvement / lean manufacturing tools (e.g. Process FMEA, Risk analysis, causal analysis, 8D, SPC, etc)
• Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
• Strong leadership skills – able to work with indirect team and remote team members, able to facilitate the team
• Knowledge of ERP and quality management systems (QMS)
• Drives to completion, self-motivated and able to prioritize own workload
• Detail oriented
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Confident working with suppliers at all levels
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Be located in the UK and can provide evidence of the right to work in the UK
