Salary: (PM 06) $95,194 – 111,714 per year

Reporting to the Recreation Facilities Manager, the Recreational Facilities Supervisor will be responsible for supervising maintenance staff which includes the operation and maintenance of civic facilities, including pools, community centers, and other recreational facilities. Duties include supervising a group of skilled and semi-skilled workers, trades people, internal staff and contractors engaged in mechanical, welding, carpentry, electrical and painting, ensuring that preventative maintenance programs are carried out. The incumbent maintains technical knowledge in various trades, ensures quality control and evaluates work to ensure required results are achieved.
This position requires the ability to anticipate needs, think critically, and offer solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Supervise and direct maintenance staff involved in the Recreation and Culture department.
Ensure policies and procedures are adhered to.
Plan, schedule, assign and monitor work while providing performance feedback, identify and recommend training, manage performance issues and participate in staff selection.
Develop and administer a preventative maintenance and servicing program for Recreation facilities, buildings, aquatic play structures, furnishings, electrical services, mechanical systems, and other infrastructures as required and directed.
Implement and monitor the preventative maintenance programs and schedule work to ensure preventative maintenance work is completed in a timely manner to minimize disruption to public services.
Assist the Manager in producing and maintaining accurate records for various government agencies for their inspections such as TSSA, Fire Department, Municipal Building Inspection Branch, Health Unit, etc.
Ensure the work order system is properly managed by verifying repair orders for each task, writing up and/or reviewing work orders and job requisitions.
Prepare reports to the Manager as required in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
Grade 12 diploma/GED, or equivalent.
Trades qualification in Millwright, HVAC Mechanic, Plumbing, or other related building and facility maintenance trades.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the operation and maintenance of civic and recreation facilities such as community centers, administration buildings and aquatic facilities.
Minimum of two (2) years’ of supervisory experience with an ability to develop and mobilize people to achieve a shared vision and implement strategies.
Ability to obtain Pool Operators Certification Level 1 and 2, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess valid ‘G’ class driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle
Computer literacy skills including Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, external contractors, and the general public.
Well-developed organizational and time management skills with an ability to complete a high volume of work, with accuracy and within prescribed deadlines in a fast-paced environment with flexibility to changing priorities.
Successful candidates will be required to submit a criminal record check and professional references.
