Job Description
We are hiring a Superintendent to lead field operations on underground utility and general engineering projects across Southern California.
This role is ideal for someone with strong field leadership experience who knows how to run public works infrastructure projects from mobilization through closeout.
What You'll Own
• Lead all field operations on underground utility and heavy civil projects
• Manage daily crew coordination, subcontractors, equipment, and site logistics
• Serve as the primary field contact for inspectors, utility owners, and client representatives
• Enforce safety standards and lead daily / weekly jobsite safety efforts
• Identify and resolve field issues including utility conflicts, design issues, and changed conditions
• Coordinate with project management on RFIs, change orders, and schedule impacts
• Mentor foremen and crew leads while setting field expectations and production standards
• Keep projects moving safely, efficiently, and in alignment with schedule and budget
Requirements:
• Strong field leadership experience in underground utility construction
• Experience with sewer, storm drain, waterline, conduit, pipeline, or similar infrastructure work
• California experience is required
• Proven background on public works projects with agency oversight
• Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specs, and geotechnical reports
• Strong knowledge of California OSHA, trench safety, and shoring requirements
• Experience with scheduling, daily reporting, and crew management
• 10+ years of field experience preferred
• 3–5+ years in a Superintendent or senior field leadership role
• Must be based in California and familiar with the Southern California construction environment
