Burgess Civil, a leading civil/site contractor serving Tampa Bay and beyond, is currently seeking a Seasoned Superintendent to join our dynamic team. In this key role, you’ll report directly to the Senior Superintendent and oversee the full lifecycle of complex job sites—from groundbreaking to final delivery.
Position Requirements:
Extensive experience in site development, including underground utilities and roadway construction, for residential, commercial, and municipal projects.
Minimum 5–7 years of experience as a Superintendent.
Proven ability to manage and oversee the installation of deep sewer, water, and storm drainage systems (this is a must).
Skilled in managing 3 to 5 crews simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities:
Review, interpret, and execute all contract documents and directives from the Project Manager.
Maintain ongoing, effective communication with the Project Manager.
Be fully knowledgeable of all project documentation—including plans, specs, contracts, schedules, budgets, subcontracts, and purchase orders—and manage project resources accordingly.
Create and maintain accurate short-term and master schedules, updated weekly and shared with stakeholders (Project Manager, President, Foremen, Equipment Manager, Safety Director, subcontractors, etc.).
Actively manage the project schedule—take charge, don’t react.
Enforce strict adherence to Burgess Civil safety policies and OSHA regulations. As Superintendent, you are the on-site Safety Manager.
Lead daily job briefings and ensure foremen conduct theirs as well.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation, including billing, change orders, time sheets, vacation requests, production reports, daily logs, short-term schedules, and incident reports.
Monitor and maintain high-quality work by both Burgess Civil crews and subcontractors.
Keep job sites clean, organized, and environmentally compliant (NPDES, erosion control, dewatering, hazardous materials, etc.).
Collaborate with the Equipment Manager to manage maintenance schedules, minimize downtime, and prevent equipment misuse or damage.
Evaluate and guide employee performance in alignment with Burgess Civil’s standards.
Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and a positive example for team members.
Stay up-to-date with industry training and certifications.
Build and maintain positive client relationships and uphold the company’s professional image.

Schedule:
10-hour shifts (4 days/week)
8-hour shift (1 day/week)
