About West Red Lake Gold Mines
West Red Lake Gold Mines is a publicly traded gold company focused on its flagship Madsen Mine in the Red Lake Gold District. After acquiring the mine in 2023, the Company spent two years building key workflows, infrastructure, and advancing exploration across its 47-sq. km land package, with operations ramping up in H2 2025 and declaration of commercial production in January 2026.
Looking ahead, a 2026 Prefeasibility Study aims to support doubling production from ~45,000 oz/year through development of the Rowan deposit, expansion at Madsen, and continued exploration to unlock additional gold across the property.
West Red Lake has an immediate opening for a Procurement & Contracts Superintendent. This role will be site-based in Red Lake, Ontario and work locally on a 5-2, 4-3, 9-hour days schedule.
Reporting to: Director of Finance, Operations
Assume this role as an experienced contracts and procurement professional with leadership capabilities, stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
Responsible for the identification, classification, requisition, negotiation, procurement and contract administration of materials buy and services required.
Lead the sourcing, bid evaluation, selection, procurement and delivery of materials and services required.
Responsible for the proponent evaluation, selection, negotiation and execution of purchase orders and contracts.
Responsible for managing the day-to-day procurement, materials and warehousing functions, logistics activities and deliverables.
Leading in contract management practices and behaviours.
Provide procurement expertise and assists stakeholders to plan, develop, source and manage procurement arrangements to effectively meet organisational and business objectives
Oversee a tender process for to identify the right suppliers, manage risk and demonstrate compliance with procurement best practice
Oversee and coordinate the preparation, negotiation and finalisation of fixed priced agreement contracts for inventory
Works collaboratively with the site operations and vendors to ensure effective and accurate shipping and delivery schedule for new and existing products compliance with the Company’s procurement and approval procedures and policies.
Work with a team on a dispute resolution process for complex contractual claims
Oversee the new vendor process and sign off on goods vendors
Manage the Purchase Order lifecycle, including follow up on order confirmations and expediting goods in line with expected delivery dates
Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring of a procurement team
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in procurement and contracts in mining industry
A qualification in procurement and/or supply chain is preferred (SCMP designation, PMAC, or an equivalent certification).
Extensive experience in ERP systems with a proven experience in procurement for mining operations
Demonstrated people management ability to develop colleagues and direct reports
Sound understanding of the principles and practice of commercial negotiation with practical experience
Experience in awarding and managing large number of procurement transactions
Experience in Inventory Control processes and attention to detail is required
Excellent problem solving, communication and decision-making skills required
Ability to effectively deal with high pressure environments and tight deadlines
Strong computer system proficiency with Purchasing software and Microsoft Office, specifically Excel spreadsheets is required
Excellent Safety record
Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
Experience working in a remote or rotational work environment is an asset.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
