Position Overview
We are seeking Summer Youth Care Counselors (YCCs) for a full-time seasonal contract running from mid-May through August (final dates TBD).
Training: Begins mid-May
Program Dates: June through August
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm
This role involves direct supervision and engagement with youth in a structured residential setting, including active participation in recreational and water-based activities.
Key Requirement (Non-Negotiable)
This position requires active participation in water activities:
You must be able to swim
You must be willing and able to enter the water with children
Staff are not permitted to supervise from the poolside only
Primary Responsibilities
Provide daily supervision, guidance, and support to youth in care
Help implement treatment goals through structured activities and interactions
Plan and lead recreational, leisure, and enrichment activities
Actively supervise youth during all activities, including swimming and water-based programming
Document daily behaviors, incidents, and observations
Ensure youth attend scheduled school, work-training, and other activities
Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years old (some college preferred)
Experience working with children or adolescents preferred
Ability to understand and respond to individual and group behavioral dynamics
Must pass FBI fingerprinting and drug screening per state requirements
Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and current auto insurance required
Compensation
$19.50 – $24.50 per hour, pending degree and experience
Schedule & Work Environment
Full-time, temporary (mid-May–August, dates TBD)
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
In-person role based in Austin, TX

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
Lift or exert up to 30 pounds occasionally, up to 15 pounds frequently
Walk, stand, sit, stoop, lift, reach, kneel, crouch, run, climb, balance, and crawl as needed
Administer physical restraints safely
Perform visual inspections, read and transcribe accurately, and operate a motor vehicle
Hear and respond quickly to emergency support requests via oral communication or electronic devices
