We are committed to delivering high-quality, inclusive early intervention services that align with Alberta’s educational standards and best practices.Fueling Brains Education Services delivers high-quality early intervention programs for children accessing Program Unit Funding (PUF) and Mild/Moderate (MM) support at Fueling Brains Academy centers across Calgary and Strathmore. Our goal is to support optimal brain development in the early years through multidisciplinary collaboration, family engagement, and play-based therapeutic interventions.

We are currently hiring a Summer Therapy Assistant to join our growing Therapy & Inclusion team. This role is ideal for students and recent graduates in the fields of Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Special Education, or a related discipline.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in Program Implementation: Support the implementation of early intervention programs designed for children with developmental delays or disabilities. Collaborate with program coordinators, teachers, and other professionals to ensure the effective delivery of interventions. 

Individualized Support: Provide individualized support to children based on their specific needs and developmental goals. Assist in the development and implementation of personalized educational plans.

Assessment and Documentation: Participate in assessments to evaluate children's developmental progress. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of children's achievements, challenges, and interventions.

Communication and Collaboration: Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to share progress and discuss strategies for supporting children at home. Collaborate with therapists, educators, and other team members to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to intervention.

Behavioral Support: Implement behavioral support strategies as outlined in individualized plans. Assist in creating a positive and inclusive environment for all children.

Personal Care Assistance: Provide assistance with personal care activities, if required, ensuring the well-being and comfort of the children.

Engage in Play and Learning Activities: Engage children in developmentally appropriate play and learning activities. Encourage social interactions and participation in group activities.

Safety and Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times. -Provide appropriate supervision during activities and transitions.

Adaptation and Flexibility: Adapt interventions and activities based on the evolving needs and progress of each child. Demonstrate flexibility in responding to unexpected situations.

Professional Development: Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to early intervention.

The successful role holder will need to have a positive attitude, quick thinking, problem solving and the ability to fulfil competing priorities.

This position is a part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program with funding provided by Service Canada. Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered:

Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment

Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act

Legally entitled to work according to relevant provincial legislation and regulations (international students on a work/study permit are not eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs Program)

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree/diploma program in:

Early Childhood Education

Psychology

Special Education

Child & Youth Care, or a related field

Coursework in child development or early intervention practices is not required but an asset.

Requirements

Knowledge of early childhood development principles and inclusive education practices

Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with children, families, and colleagues

Flexibility to work in different early learning environments (classrooms, sensory spaces, therapy rooms)

Valid Alberta driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed)

Current (within 6 months) Police Clearance and Vulnerability sector check

Valid First Aid & CPR certification

Work Environment Requirements

Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform tasks such as kneeling, crawling, or standing for extended periods

Regular use of hands, hearing, and vision in an active environment

Emotional resilience and ability to remain calm in high-energy or unexpected situations

Exposure to childhood illness, noise, and occasionally bodily fluids

Occasional extended or irregular work hours based on programming needs

Work Schedule:
This Position is 35 Hours per Week, Monday-Friday. 

This Position will start on 06/29/2026 and end on 08/21/2026

Employment Type: Temporary – Full-Time (Summer 2026)
