About the Opportunity
The Business Systems Specialist Intern will work closely with the JSN Research Department to support the design and implementation of secure, data-driven systems that power internal intelligence and reporting. This role offers hands-on experience in database design, data engineering, API integrations, and applied analytics in a real-world environment.
The intern will contribute to building scalable, secure, and efficient data infrastructure while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to support organizational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Working with the JSN Research Department, the Business Systems Specialist Intern will:
Assist in designing, prototyping, and implementing a secure database and data model for an internal intelligence management system
Implement production-grade API and webhook integrations with external OSINT sources, ensuring clean and query-able data structures
Set up ingestion, enrichment, and transformation pipelines to automate data flows
Support efforts to strengthen data security, governance, and ensure organizational ownership and control of all systems
Enable analytics and business intelligence through dashboards, queries, and reporting tools for stakeholders
Develop data validation checks and testing protocols to ensure quality, reliability, and performance of pipelines
Monitor systems and contribute to documentation, including runbooks and operational procedures
Curate training and evaluation datasets and prompts for an AI-assisted report generator, incorporating human-in-the-loop review and quality control
Qualifications
Strong foundational skills in SQL
Experience with programming (e.g., Python or similar) or low-code/AI-assisted development tools
Experience integrating APIs and processing webhooks
Strong data literacy and analytical thinking skills
Current enrollment in a BSc, MSc, or certification program in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field (preferred)
