Your Team:

The Office of Development (OOD) leads the agency’s effort to create and preserve affordable housing in collaboration with other HPD offices as well as other city, state and federal agencies. The OOD is comprised of eight divisions that administer a range of programs. These divisions include New Construction Finance, Special Needs Housing, Housing Incentives, Building and Land Development Services, Homeownership Opportunities and Preservation, Preservation Finance, Portfolio Management and Conversions, and Compliance and Enforcement.

The Division of Building and Land Development Services (BLDS) provides architectural, engineering, cost valuation, environmental planning, and construction support services to the various divisions within HPD’s Office of Development. BLDS is the largest division within the Office of Development with over 120 staff composed of seven units which include: the Bureau of New Construction Design Review Services, the Bureau of Preservation Design Review Services, the Bureau of Engineering, the Bureau of Construction Services, the Environmental Planning Unit, the Policy Unit, and the Program Management Unit.

Your Impact:

As an Executive Office Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting division-wide initiatives within BLDS. Working closely with the Executive Office, you will contribute to research, data analysis, process improvement efforts, and strategic projects that help strengthen operations and enhance project delivery across the division.

Your Responsibilities:

As an Executive Office Intern, you will:
-Conduct research on housing-related topics and perform data analysis to support executive initiatives.
-Prepare reports, briefing materials, and presentations for senior leadership.
-Develop tools and trackers to improve operational efficiency across BLDS.
-Support the setup and implementation of new processes related to project deliverables and workflow improvements.
-Gather and synthesize data from multiple sources to inform strategic decisions.
-Assist with special projects and administrative tasks, including drafting correspondence and organizing documentation.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduate students in Architecture, Data Analytics, Public Policy, Urban Planning, or a related field.

-Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
-Ability to read and understand architectural drawings.
-Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
-Ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
