SUMMARY:
The Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City government's chief financial agency. OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayor’s expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities.
OMB’s Office of Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (EEO/DEI), is a confidential office that is responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant Federal, NY State, and NY City laws that prohibit workplace discrimination, retaliation, and harassment based on actual or perceived membership in a protected class, including the intake, investigation, and resolution of EEO-related inquiries and investigations. The EEO/DEI Office is also charged with promoting consistency and fairness in agency employment practices and driving diversity, equity, and inclusion, in all aspects of agency work.
The EEO/DEI Office is also responsible for administering the agency’s reasonable accommodation process, working to resolve certain disputes, ensuring compliance with EEO and DEI training requirements, and effectively addressing employee-related concerns discreetly and professionally. The Office also coordinates the agency’s cultural and diversity-related events, including monthly emails, bulletin boards, and in-person educational and celebratory events.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The selected intern will assist with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the Office. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Support research and tasks related to EEO inquiries and investigations.
- Prepare correspondence as directed by the EEO Officer.
- Schedule interviews and meetings with complainants, witnesses, respondents, and other stakeholders.
- Gather documentation and compile statistical data for reports to oversight agencies.
- Perform confidential assignments and special projects as directed by the EEO Office.
- Assist with planning and implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion events and initiatives.
- Research strategies and sources for building and retaining a diverse workforce.
- Update EEO-related data in internal and citywide databases.
- Maintain and organize EEO case files and related documentation.
- Assist with updating EEO forms and training materials to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
- Provide general administrative support, including copying, scanning, filing, and faxing.
QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIREMENTS:

Graduate interns must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program. Candidates should have strong analytical, quantitative, research and communication skills. Additionally, candidates must be proficient in MS Word and Excel
To participate in the OMB Summer Internship Program, graduate students must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program.
Compensation/Duration:
Graduate College Aide $20.00 per hour
Internships will run for 10 weeks, from June 1, 2026, to August 7, 2026. The work must be done during the regular workday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. – no evenings or weekends.
This is a hybrid position with in-person days located at OMB’s offices at 255 Greenwich Street
