Position Overview
The Summer Camp Program Facilitator supports the daily implementation of the Girls Inc. Summer Camp program for girls currently in 2nd–5th grade. The Girls Inc. Summer Camp will take place at KIPP Miami and will serve approximately 30–35 girls. Facilitators supervise groups of approximately 15–20 girls, lead structured activities, and help create a safe, engaging, and supportive camp environment.
Summer Camp includes hands-on activities such as reading, art, sports, STEM, themed projects, and other recreational activities, as well as weekly field trips. Facilitators work closely with the Program Coordinator and fellow staff to ensure smooth daily operations and a positive experience for all participants.
Program Dates
Mandatory Staff Training:
June 10th - June 12th
Approximately 10:30am - 6:30pm daily (exact time TBD)
Attendance at all training days is required
Camp Dates:
June 15th - July 24th
No programming July 4th or June 19th (holidays)
Schedule
Facilitators will be assigned to one of the following shifts, both of which average approximately 30 hours per week. The specific schedule structure is planned as described above but may be adjusted based on program needs.
Morning Shift
8:00am - 2:30pm daily
Afternoon Shift
12:00pm - 6:30pm daily
Field Trip Days:
Field Trips take place on Wednesdays and/or Fridays each week. Shift schedules may change during these days to accommodate
Responsibilities
Program Facilitation
Supervise and engage a group of 15–20 elementary-age girls during camp activities.
Lead or assist with structured activities such as reading, games, sports, creative projects, and themed learning experiences.
Use engaging strategies to create an interactive and inclusive environment.
Support girls in building confidence, communication skills, and positive peer relationships.
Supervision & Safety
Maintain active supervision during all activities, transitions, and recreation periods.
Ensure adherence to daily camp schedules and activity rotations.
Follow all safety procedures and emergency protocols.
Supervise participants during weekly off-site field trips.
Positive Camp Environment
Reinforce Girls Inc. behavioral expectations and community agreements.
Use positive behavior management and emotion coaching strategies.
Ensure all participants feel welcomed, included, and supported.
Collaboration & Operations
Work collaboratively with fellow facilitators and the Program Coordinator.
Assist with activity setup, transitions, and clean-up.
Help maintain organized activity spaces and materials.
Communication & Documentation
Maintain accurate and consistent record keeping, including attendance, as instructed.
Communicate important updates or concerns to the Program Coordinator.
Follow procedures for snack distribution and daily program operations.
Qualifications
Current or previous Girls Inc. Program Facilitators with experience facilitating Girls Inc. programming and familiarity with Girls Inc. expectations, behavior management approaches, and program culture. Current Facilitators will be given priority.
Experience supervising and facilitating activities for elementary-aged youth, ideally in afterschool, camp, or youth development settings.
Reliable transportation and the ability to attend all required training (June 10–12) and consistently report to the camp site at KIPP Miami Monday–Friday during the program dates.
