Camps run Monday to Friday, June 15 – August 10 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Summary
St. Margaret’s School is seeking an energetic and caring Camp Leader's to plan, prepare, and implement quality program activities. The Camp Leader will engage students in themed activities that will inspire their talents, creativity, and interests. Working with Camp staff members, the position will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of students and will communicate effectively with parents and colleagues.
This position is responsible for the planning, preparation and implementation of activities, set-up, and clean-up, and ensuring the well-being and safety of the participants.
Responsibilities include:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the camps.
Daily set up and clean-up of camp activities and spaces.
Planning and executing the weekly or daily program of activities based on themes.
Maintain written records of camp schedule and activities.
Order and purchase program materials as necessary.
Maintain camp area and materials in a well-organized and orderly manner.
Work cooperatively with other staff members and supervisors.
Communicates effectively with parents and school staff before, during and after camp programs.
Responsible for daily attendance of children in camp.
Ensure that children are signed in and picked up in accordance with School’s student safety and supervision protocols.
Adhere to the Island Health regulations pertaining to Out of School Care environments, that include first aid protocols, cleanliness, child to adult ratio, attendance records, etc.
Maintain medical and emergency contact information of participants.
Knowledgeable in evacuation and emergency procedures in the Out of School Care/Camp areas.
Requirements and Qualifications include:
Candidates should be 19 years of age or older.
Experience working with children in elementary school settings.
Post-secondary certificate in the field of Childcare or Education, or related field.
Minimum of two (2) years demonstrated childcare experience.
Current First Aid & CPR certification.
Strong creative and organizational skills.
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
Demonstrated supervisory experience.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel and Word, and Google Suite.
Excellent oral/written communications skills.
