What you will do:

The Summer Camp Behavioral Support provides support to summer camp classrooms in the form of de-escalating campers and preventing challenging behaviors. This role works with camp counselors during incidents and coaches camp counselors including teaching effective classroom management techniques.

• Work well directly under the supervision of Camp Director and works along with the camp Administration Team.

• Model for and coach Camp Counselors in ways to prevent and de-escalate challenging behaviors.

• Temporarily step into the role of Camp Counselor as needed.

• Assist Camp Counselors in the implementation of individualized classroom treatment plans to maximize the treatment of the children served.

• Participate in required reports and paperwork.

• Participate in the completion of classroom billing via deTaso by signing classroom data as needed.

• Coach counselors on daily curriculum in order to prevent challenging behaviors.

• Participate in the development of each child by positive engagement and embedded teaching across all areas of development. Display an understanding that teaching occurs all day.

• Ensure that the classroom is following all policies and procedures put in place by Pediatrics Plus, EIDT, AR Childcare Licensing, and the AR Health Department.

• Be familiar with and comply with HIPAA regulations.

• Immediately report health or safety concerns to the Director or Nurse.

• Complete documentation that may be required to support behavior prevention and appropriate reporting measures.

• Participate in and/or lead classroom team meetings as needed and as assigned by Camp Director.

• Serve as a role model for all Camp Counselors in work ethic, company policy/procedure, fidelity of practices, and Pediatrics Plus’s core values.

• Complete required hours of continuing education as deemed necessary for licensing and other accreditations.

• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people.

• Ability to work with children birth to age 21 and families who are at risk.

• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a very busy environment.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies, and other company documents.

• Ability to author routine reports and correspondence.

• Ability to speak effectively before groups of families or employees of the organization.

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

• Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.

• Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• CDA, preferred.

• One year of successful experience in a classroom setting working with developmentally at-risk children or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.

• Pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to accurately communicate information and ideas so others will understand through sight and hearing. The employee is regularly required to move including walking, running, and sitting. The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, lift, reach, and feel. The employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, twist, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
