Reporting to: Summer Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director

At Brimacombe ski area we don’t just offer skiing and snowboarding, we offer a place for all ages to get outside, enjoy the fresh air and create memorable experiences! Entering our ninth year of summer camps, we are currently seeking fun, outgoing, and responsible team members to help us make Camp Brimacombe a fun and safe place for our campers this summer.
As part of our Camp Brimacombe team, the Art Coordinator will be responsible for the planning, leading and implementing fun, interactive art activities that promote learning for not only the campers, but you as well. We will treat you with respect and give you the opportunity to take ownership this summer by providing input into the camp programs, and helping implement positive growth of campers and the camp itself.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for planning, leading, and implementing art programs and experiences for children in a small group setting
Responsible for ordering and purchasing supplies within a predetermined budget
Provide high quality arts and crafts experiences for participants
Write, prepare and implement weekly, age appropriate art programs for all camp groups
Responsible for the set-up and clean-up of art room
Responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants
Be aware of camper dietary/medical needs, and provide assistance as needed
Organize and lead a variety of small group activities in before and/or after care
Identify and respond to camper behaviour issues
Ensure that the site is kept clean, organized, and free of litter
Communicate with parents about participant’s experiences and report concerns to Camp Leadership
Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance
Create a positive rapport with all campers
Follow and enforce all Camp Brimacombe policies and procedures for employees and campers. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your campers’ safety and their whereabouts at all times.
Work effectively in a team with all other Camp Brimacombe staff and management.
Take on any challenge or help other team members when needed, including but not limited to stepping in as a camp counsellor, as needed.
Lead campers through pre-programmed activities during Before and After Camps
Qualifications:
Education or related-experience in youth programs, recreation, working with children, or a related field
Experience in a camp environment or educational setting, preferred but not required
Strong interest/appreciation or background in arts and crafts preferred
Valid First Aid and CPR-C certification
Successful Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, required prior to first day of work
Provide Ministry of Labour Workplace Health and Safety certificate, prior to first day of work
Provide HIGHFIVE Principals of Healthy Childhood Development certificate, prior to first day of work
Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team player
Strong organizational and communication skills
Must be able to legally work in Canada
