Job Description
About The Dispatch:
At a time of growing industry uncertainty and an alarming erosion of civic discourse, The Dispatch stands out as a platform for thoughtful coverage, respectful dialogue and a wildly engaged community of paying members. We bring a perspective —we’re conservatives, classical liberals, libertarians—but we’re fiercely independent, standing apart from media outlets increasingly engaged in partisan boosterism. Started in 2019 by Steve Hayes, the Editor-in-Chief of The Weekly Standard, and Jonah Goldberg, editor at National Review, The Dispatch has filled a valuable gap on the center-right in the media ecosystem as captured in articles in Vanity Fair, The Atlantic and other publications.
Overview:
The Dispatch is pleased to offer its 2026 summer multimedia internship program. This is a 10-week opportunity beginning June 1 and ending August 7. This is a hands-on internship that will provide invaluable experience for aspiring multimedia journalists who want to participate in the editorial process of a thriving media business. The interns will work closely with The Dispatch’s reporters, staff writers, and editors to contribute to The Dispatch’s podcasts and social videos.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with podcast, video, and social media production across The Dispatch’s multimedia team.
•
Support the development and distribution of podcast and social video content, including clipping, asset gathering, writing metadata, and publishing support.
•
Help identify strong moments from podcasts, interviews, and live events for use in social video and YouTube.
•
Help record podcast audio and video in Riverside and edit in Premiere.
•
Provide general editorial and multimedia support to producers, editors, and other members of The Dispatch team.
Skills & Qualifications:
•
Current enrollment in a related undergraduate or master’s degree program. Those graduating in 2026 are eligible.
•
Strong interest in journalism, podcasting, digital video, and the evolving media landscape.
•
Familiarity with American politics, news, and public affairs, along with an active interest in the major stories shaping the national conversation.
•
Some hands-on experience with audio, video, or social content production through coursework, internships, student media, freelance work, or personal projects.
•
Basic proficiency with one or more relevant production tools, such as ProTools, Adobe Audition or Premiere, Descript, Riverside, Canva or similar platforms.
•
Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines, manage details carefully, and respond professionally to feedback.
•
Good editorial judgment, strong communication skills, and a willingness to learn quickly in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
We’re committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender, gender identity or expression, or veteran status. We’re proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
