Job Description
North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic (NSLAC) in Highland Park, IL, is looking for law student interns for the summer of 2026. Our Clinic’s mission is to provide accessible, quality, equitable, free legal services in the areas of domestic violence, housing, and immigration to give low-income, at-risk community members access to justice and the opportunity to live productive and secure lives.
A summer internship at NSLAC will give you a comprehensive understanding of the world of non-profit legal services. Summer interns will have the opportunity to shadow attorneys, assist in clinic outreach events, conduct research, and develop case management and advocacy skills. Interns may also assist in engaging our community partners, client base, and other stakeholders.
Law Interns will be given the opportunity to assist with intake calls, court hearings, case management, and legal research. Law students will also be able to shadow our social workers to learn more about providing wrap-around services to our most at-risk clients.
Qualifications
Demonstrated merit in their undergraduate and law school studies;
Expressed interest in public interest law or non-profit careers;
Ability to dedicate at least 15 hours per week to the internship;
Ability to accurately complete assignments with set deadlines;
Ability to take initiative to seek additional opportunities for learning and development during their internship.
NSLAC is a hybrid-remote workplace, accessible by public transportation.
