We are innovators in the field, having conceived, designed, and executed a brand- new delivery model of services to the adult IDD community, that include online classes!
Job Summary
We are seeking a high energy, creative and passionate Special Education Substitute Online Substitute Teacher (Remote Position) to join us online in the amazing mission of empowering the lives of adults with special needs. This is a Contract as needed Remote position. Qualified candidates will have a passion for working with adults with special needs, a great deal of patience, high energy, excellent problem-solving and communication skills. The Special Education Online Teacher Substitute would also enjoy working in an innovative, entrepreneurial atmosphere in a virtual team-oriented environment.
We ask our teachers to teach courses which they are personally passionate about. This often creates a more engaging and exciting class for our participants.
Primary Job Duties:
Provide direct online teaching focused on STAR success and inclusivity.
Locate/Use/Monitor supplemental programs (Zoom) to enhance teaching
Collaborate with supervisors on a regular basis
Encourage, and above all, empower participants.
Expectations of Position:
MUST be comfortable with technology.
Proficient use of technology (Zoom or other online platform, Microsoft Office) to enhance teaching and communicate with staff, participants, and families.
Attentive to STAR behaviors and ability to manage challenging behaviors through the execution of positive behavior supports for each individual/unique situation or seeks help from senior positions when necessary.
Engages participants in instruction/activities with an attitude that creates a fun atmosphere as well as educational.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma Required / Bachelor’s degree in education or a human services field preferred.
Demonstrates leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with adults with special needs, parents, and volunteers.
Excellent communication and relational skills.
Ability to multi-task, problem solve effectively and manage the demands of a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
