We are seeking a qualified medical professional in the La Jolla area to support on-site research sessions by conducting participant health screenings and ensuring safety throughout physical activity protocols.
Key responsibilities & duties:
Conduct pre-session health screenings, including:
Blood pressure
Heart rate
PAR-Q (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire) review
Evaluate participant eligibility based on screening results
Monitor participants during exercise sessions for safety
Provide real-time assessment of participant condition during activity
Respond to adverse events (AEs) and escalate as needed
Determine if participants can proceed with modified or reduced exercise protocols based on screening results and real time assessment
Maintain accurate documentation of vitals, observations, and any incidents
Qualifications:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), or equivalent clinical certification
Experience taking and interpreting vital signs (BP, HR)
Ability to monitor individuals during physical activity
CPR/AED certification required
Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to medical concerns
Strong judgement and decision-making skills
Comfortable working in an active, fast-paced research environment
Must be available to work on-site in La Jolla
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in sports medicine, exercise physiology, or clinical research
Familiarity with emergency response protocols
Employment Terms
Start Date: April 10th
Location: La Jolla, CA
Work arrangement:100% on-site
Schedule: Monday-Friday, primarily business hours
Employment type: Full-time at will (employed via EOR)
Project Duration: ~1 month (role tied to a short-term client project; continuation not guaranteed)
