Location: Mostly remote with occasional in-person activities on campus
Hiring unit: Teaching and Academic Programs
Hourly rate: Undergraduate student- $18/h + 4% vacation indemnity; Master student - $20/h + 4% vacation indemnity; PhD student $23/h + 4% vacation indemnity
Hours: Up to 3 hours per week
Duration: ASAP to March 31st, 2026
Teaching and Academic programs is seeking forty (40) U3-U4 undergraduate and/or Master/PhD/Post-doc students to become part-time Student Partners to assist the ECQ Students as Partners French terminology program. Students must be enrolled in any of the following Departments/Schools/Institute:
• Institute for Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies (IGFS)
• Linguistics
• Information Studies
• Anthropology
• Political Science
• Music Performance
• Integrated Studies in Education (DISE)
• Educational & Counselling Psychology (ECP)
• Kinesiology & Physical Education (KPE)
Through this program, we aim to foster instructor-student relationships and reflections about strategies to support McGill’s students’ acquisition of key French terminology in their field.
This position will expect you to dedicate up to 3 hours per week from mid-December 2025 to March 31st, 2026. You will meet regularly with your instructor-partners as well as with the SaP core team. You will fulfill a variety of roles. However, at the heart of this SaP program, your main role will be to offer your instructor-partners invaluable inputs and perspective in discussions around teaching and learning and acquisition of key French terminology in your discipline.
Winter 2026 activities will be a combination of in-person and online activities.
Primary Responsibilities
• Attend weekly 30-minute team meetings;
• Attend the Winter 2026 orientation session;
• Attend regular meetings with the instructor partners.
• Support and conduct tasks agreed upon with instructor partners.
Job Requirements/Minimum Education/ Experience
• To be eligible for this job, you must have access to a computer and high-speed internet, webcam and microphone;
• Must be able to present yourself on campus for in-person activities;
• Must be registered as at McGill for the Winter 2026 semester;
• Must be able to work in Canada and have a valid SIN number.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
Students applying should indicate knowledge/experience in any of the following areas:
• Advanced proficiency in French, both written and spoken
• Organization and time management skills
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to interact with instructors
• Familiarity with web conferencing technology (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom)
