Job Summary
The Student & Family Services Coordinator supports student success by building the capacity of students and families to navigate resources, strengthen self-regulation and executive functioning skills, and engage effectively with the school environment. The role ensures families are informed, connected, and equipped with the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to support student growth, engagement, and long-term success. This position is preventative, educational, and systems-focused, designed to promote continuity and access across the school community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as a central point of connection for families seeking information, guidance, and access to school and community-based resources that support student engagement and stability.
Educate students and families on how to independently navigate support systems and resources rather than managing individual cases or service plans.
Support students and families in understanding and strengthening self-regulation and executive functioning skills, including organization, routines, self-advocacy, and independence.
Collaborate with instructional staff to reinforce executive functioning and self-regulation skills within classroom instruction, specials programming, and media-based learning experiences.
Maintain consistent and proactive communication with families to promote clarity, trust, and engagement.
Serve as a liaison between families, teachers, and school leadership to ensure alignment, responsiveness, and shared understanding.
Share non-clinical, observational insights with instructional teams related to student engagement, learning readiness, and contextual factors that may influence participation.
Document student observations strictly within an educational context for instructional planning purposes, without conducting assessments, diagnoses, or evaluations.
Share responsibility for enrollment outreach and engagement activities with other administrative staff.
Build and maintain relationships with early childhood centers, academies, daycares, and community organizations to support enrollment pipelines and family transitions.
Participate in school events, information sessions, and community outreach activities.
Monitor schoolwide patterns of engagement and access and communicate trends or gaps to school leadership for proactive response.
Support onboarding and transition processes for new and returning families to promote continuity and engagement.
Scope of Practice and Professional Boundaries
This position does not provide behavior intervention, counseling, therapy, diagnosis, psychological services, or clinical social work. The Student & Family Services Coordinator does not manage individual caseloads or develop treatment or behavior plans. Any mental health, therapeutic, or clinical needs are referred to appropriately licensed professionals. The role is limited to education, communication, resource navigation, and capacity building.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education, human services, public administration, psychology, sociology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience working with children, families, schools, or community organizations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships with families and community partners.
Strong organizational skills and ability to collaborate across teams while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in family engagement, student support services, enrollment outreach, or community partnership development.
Familiarity with executive functioning concepts, social-emotional learning frameworks, or trauma-aware educational practices in a non-clinical context.
Experience working with culturally and socioeconomically diverse communities.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
The work environment is primarily school-based and requires regular collaboration with instructional and administrative teams. Occasional evening or weekend participation may be required for family engagement or enrollment-related activities. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
Equal Opportunity Statement
