Job Description

Student Engagement Manager

Brandeis Hillel

Role Overview

Brandeis Hillel is seeking a full-time Student Engagement Manager for someone who is energized by relationships, strategic about outreach, and passionate about connecting people to Jewish life and community.

This is an ideal position for a candidate with 2+ years of experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment, knows how to work with student leaders and interns, and is interested in fostering an inclusive and diverse Jewish community.

You’ll work closely with the Assistant Director, student-facing staff, and engagement interns to plan, develop, to design and drive a strategy to grow the breadth of Jewish life at Brandeis.

Brandeis is a small, academically rigorous university with a close-knit Jewish community of approximately 1,200 students. The work here is relational and intentional, building real relationships with students, understanding what matters to them, and helping them find their place in Jewish life at Brandeis and beyond. With dozens of engaged student leaders and a collaborative staff team to support your work, you’ll have real resources and real relationships to work with. We are looking for someone experienced enough to lead, organized enough to execute, and warm enough to make every student feel seen.

What You’ll Do

• Work with the Assistant Director to revise and implement an engagement strategy that will increase both breadth (1+) and depth (6+) engagement, with an overall goal of reaching 1,000 students over the course of an academic year, 400 of whom are engaged 6 or more times.

• Supervise and mentor a network of student engagement interns, including the Social Engagement Coordinator on the Hillel Student Board

• Work closely with FYSH (First-Year Students at Hillel) to generate targeted engagement of first-year students

• Co-teach 1-2 Jewish Learning Fellowship cohorts per semester

• Plan and develop programming in conjunction with student leaders and staff to supplement 1:1 outreach and engagement efforts

• Supervise and mentor the campus Springboard Fellow

What You’ll Bring to the Job

• 2+ years of experience in a related role (e.g. Springboard Fellowship)

• Bachelor’s degree

• Success in event planning and execution, written and oral communication, collaborating with a team, managing multiple priorities, and meeting short-and long-term goals

• Experience supervising and mentoring undergraduate students

• Professionalism, creativity, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence

• Confidence initiating and running programs and building meaningful relationships

• Strong interpersonal and organization skills

What You’ll Receive

• Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace: $58,000-$63,000, commensurate with experience.

• Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plan, life/AD&D/LTD insurances, flexible spending accounts, and generous vacation, sick time, and parental leave.

• High-level professional development, mentoring, and skill building through Brandeis Hillel and the broader Hillel International network

• A close, collegial staff team and a network of colleagues across the Hillel movement
