Job Summary
As the first university-based common law school in the nation, the Schulich School of Law offers a unique and enlightened approach to legal education. Diverse curriculum, leading specializations, and internationally recognized faculty provide exceptional opportunities in all facets of legal education. Reporting to the Assistant Dean, Student and Academic Affairs, the Student Engagement Coordinator is an integral member of Schulich Law’s Associate Dean Academic Office team and plays an indispensable role in matters related to the quality of the student experience in the Juris Doctor (J.D.) program.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and audit JD student records and course registrations to ensure compliance with degree requirements.
Organize and manage the online registration process, including liaising with the Registrar’s Office and assisting students.
Coordinate academic success initiatives such as 1L Orientation Week, peer mentorship programming, and information sessions.
Liaise with faculty, administration, and external institutions on registration policies, documentation, and graduation eligibility.
Coordinate examination accommodations and deferred and supplemental exam arrangements, ensuring compliance with policies and secure handling of exam materials.
Provide confidential administrative support to the Associate Dean Academic’s Office, including maintaining student platforms, updating calendars, and managing communications.
Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Business/Office Administrative Diploma plus approximately three to five years’ related work experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
Proven ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a busy working environment including strong attention to detail, initiative and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Teams, OneDrive, Forms, etc.).
