Job Description

The Role (What’s in the Box)

For our ambitious, fast-growing team in Copenhagen, we are looking for a Student Assistant – Operations Technology (Data Engineering) (all genders) to join our Operations Tech team. In this role, you will support the development and maintenance of data pipelines, internal tools, and operational systems that power our daily operations across the Nordics.

You will work closely with experienced data engineers and gain hands-on exposure to modern data infrastructure in a fast-moving environment. Your work will help ensure operational systems run smoothly and enable our teams to deliver thousands of meal boxes to customers every day. This role offers a great opportunity to develop your coding and data engineering skills while contributing directly to HelloFresh’s mission to change the way people eat — forever.

Above all, we are looking for people who will make HelloFresh better. There are many different ways of developing skills, and we love diverse experiences! So even if you don’t “tick all the boxes” but think you’d thrive in this role, we would really like to learn more about you.

What You’ll Do (The Recipe)

• Support & Maintain: Help the team monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines using Databricks or Airflow, ensuring our daily operations run smoothly.

• Build Internal Tools: Assist in developing and deploying internal applications (built using Steamlit / Django) that our operational teams use every day.

• Write Quality Code: Practice writing clean, testable code (mainly python) under the mentorship of senior engineers.

• Learn Modern DevOps: Gain exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and CI/CD workflows within a professional production environment.

• Data Exploration: Assist in managing data storage and transformations within AWS (S3) and Postgres.

• Collaborate: Work within an Agile framework, helping the team translate operational needs from our operational partners into technical solutions.

What You’ll Bring (Your Ingredients)

• The Right Academic Path: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (e.g., Operations Research / Supply Chain Management).

• Python Skills: Comfortable with Python and eager to write structured, maintainable code

• SQL: Familiar with SQL and relational databases

• A "Tech-Curious" Mindset: An interest in learning about Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or orchestration tools like Airflow.

• Operational Interest: You enjoy seeing how technology solves physical problems (like getting a box to a customer's door on time).

• Communication: Fluency in English and a proactive attitude. We value students who ask "why" and aren't afraid to dive into a challenge.

• Availability: Available to work approximately 15–20 hours per week alongside your studies.

What We Offer (The Toppings)

• Real Impact: You won't just be making coffee; you’ll be contributing to code that moves thousands of boxes across the Nordics and Europe.

• Mentorship: Join a close-knit team (3 engineers, 1 technical PM) dedicated to your professional growth.

• Flexibility: We know exams come first. We offer flexible working hours to accommodate your studies.

• The Perks:

• Significant discount on HelloFresh or Factor_ meals.

• Subsidized healthy lunch in our Copenhagen office.

• A vibrant, international office culture with a free Friday bar and social events.

Are you the missing ingredient?

If this sounds like a tasty opportunity, we’d be excited to hear from you. Apply with your CV in English — we review applications on an ongoing basis, so don’t wait!
