POSITION OVERVIEW
The Student Assistant works closely with Accounting Department staff. The employee will have good computer skills, time management, and experience with Microsoft Office (especially Excel). The employee will also be friendly, helpful, and willing to learn and tackle new challenges in a busy work environment.
POSITION TYPE & EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a part-time, non-exempt, and non-benefitted position. It will be paid on an hourly basis. This role is working in the office in Reno. This is not a remote position.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Will assist the Student Accounting Specialists as needed, to include communicating by telephone and email with USAC students regarding the following:
Missed payment deadlines
Assisting students with Payment Plans
Assisting students with Financial Aid Deferments
Work will vary from general office work, clerical level tasks, general ledger and assisting accounting management on various projects or reports and to include, as examples:
Data input
Reconcile data from different systems or sources
Assist with research for projects
Preparing schedules in Excel
Pick up or drop off mail, sort and distribute mail

REQUIREMENTS
Current UNR or TMCC student
Available to work 12-19 hours a week
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Advanced level of written and oral communication skills
Detail oriented and well organized
Strong analytical skills (critical thinking), creative problem-solving, organization, and development
Excellent customer service, human relations, and interpersonal skills as well as good listening skills
Confidentiality
Ability to work independently with minimal direction
Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and current software applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook)
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The duties of this job are mainly performed in a regular office environment with occasional small trips outdoors. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk throughout the building. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
