Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Manager Internships and Student Affairs Office, in the Internship and Student Affairs Office (ISA) in the Faculty of Education is responsible for the planning and implementation of the practical teaching component of undergraduate and graduate Teacher Education programs, B.A Education internship component, general and career advising, and undergraduate student affairs and records. Reporting to the Manager Internships and Student Affairs Office, the successful candidate will be responsible for several dossiers, including aspects of student records, scholarships, advising teachers certified outside Quebec, as well as supporting events and special projects related to student affairs and initiatives in student teaching.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide guidance and support to a diverse student population, which is responsive to their academic needs, facilitates the pursuit of their educational goals and ensures that they make the most of their University experience.

• Implement administrative procedures and systems to support the ISA’s operations and to ensure that services meet or exceed established quality requirements.

• In collaboration with the Manager Internships and Student Affairs Office, oversee the hiring, onboarding and assignment of Field Supervisors for student teaching.

• Oversee administrative aspects of the electronic student teaching assessment model, including advising Supervisors, troubleshooting, providing training and updating documentation.

• In collaboration with the Manager Internships and Student Affairs Office, recruit, train and supervise work study students.

• Advise teachers certified outside Quebec with regard to required course registration; secure necessary departmental permissions.

• Promote, evaluate and process scholarships & awards

• Review and approve various student requests (including part-time study, inter/intra-faculty transfers, readmissions, etc.).

• Prepare training and procedural documentation, generate statistics and write reports relative to student affairs and student teaching, as needed.

• Serve as advisor for the Education Minor, including but not limited to, meeting with students, evaluating records for graduation and processing Minor applications.

• Ensure compliance with work visa requirements for international students.

• Participate in and/or organize student affairs and student teaching activities that support the daily operations of the ISA in accordance with established goals and objectives.

• Act as backup for the Manager Internships and Student Affairs Office.

• Supervise clerical staff

• Perform other related duties, as required.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

Demonstrated experience and knowledge of undergraduate education at McGill. Demonstrated professionalism in dealing with all levels of staff, students, agencies, government, and the public. Experience with scholarships or financial aid is an asset. Familiarity and comprehensive knowledge of the Quebec elementary and secondary school systems. Demonstrated organizational, communication, interpersonal skills, and leadership abilities. Proven ability to work independently in problem solving and managing multiple projects. Sound judgment and an ability to perform well under pressure and to meet strict deadlines. Demonstrated ability to take initiative. Demonstrated ability to work in a computerized environment using Microsoft Office suite, Adobe and other software; thorough knowledge of McGill’s Student Information System (Banner/Minerva). English and French, spoken and written.

Bachelor's Degree 1 Year Related Experience with Bachelor’s Degree / DEC III 3 Years Related Experience with DEC III

Annual Salary:

(MPEX Grade 03) $61,990.00 - $72,930.00 - $83,870.00
