Job Summary:
This position is classified as an Independent Contractor. The Student Advisor & Recruiter is not an employee of the institution and will operate independently while meeting agreed-upon performance standards and KPIs. The contractor is responsible for their own taxes, benefits, equipment, and work arrangements, and will not be entitled to employee benefits. The role collaborates closely with the Admissions and Financial teams but does not hold decision-making authority within the organization.
Role Overview
We are excited to welcome a Student Advisor & Recruiter (African Market) to support our student enrollment growth initiatives. You will join a dynamic, results-driven team supporting students who aspire to study and thrive in Canada, AB.
This role is ideal for an ambitious, ethical, and performance-oriented professional with proven sales and recruitment experience. The Student Advisor & Recruiter is accountable for meeting defined KPIs and exceeding monthly enrollment targets through proactive student advising, prospect engagement, and partnership recruitment.
You will contribute directly to the college’s revenue growth by promoting and selling a diverse range of educational programs to prospective students, while working closely with campus admissions and financial teams to ensure a smooth enrollment process.
Key Responsibilities
Student Advising & Recruitment
Use standardized presentation and communication tools to provide clear, accurate information about academic programs and student services.
Provide personalized guidance to prospective students regarding academic programs, admission requirements, and career pathways.
Conduct one-on-one advising sessions to help students define educational goals and develop academic plans.
Identify, qualify, and follow up with prospective full-time students, ensuring all interactions are handled professionally and promptly.
Guide students through the full application process, including application review, credential verification, and required documentation.
Enrollment Support & Retention
Coach enrolled students through the pre-start phase to ensure successful enrollment, including guidance on housing, student loans, and available resources.
Work closely with the Admissions Department to ensure full retention of applications through enrollment.
Coordinate with admissions staff to support timely application processing and accurate record-keeping.
Sales, Strategy & Reporting
Meet or exceed monthly enrollment KPIs and sales targets.
Maintain accurate records of student interactions, application statuses, and enrollment data in the CRM system.
Perform a high volume of daily outreach (approximately 80–150 contacts per day) while maintaining a positive and enthusiastic approach.
Networking & Partnerships
Build and maintain referral networks through partnerships with agents, institutions, and community contacts.
Maintain a visible presence in recruitment activities and support admissions initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience in student recruitment, sales, marketing, or a related field (or relevant education).
Previous experience working in an educational institution is preferred.
Strong background in sales, marketing, and client engagement.
Excellent networking skills with established business or agent connections.
Experience working with agents and clients.
Strong understanding of the student education enrollment process.
Ability to manage high-volume outreach while maintaining professionalism and enthusiasm.
Excellent organizational, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Comfortable working under pressure and meeting performance targets.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and productivity tools.
Familiarity with CRM systems or call management software is an asset.
Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
Multilingual communication skills are an advantage.
Dependable, flexible, and able to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines consistently.
