We are looking for a Structural Steel Foreman to lead field operations while actively performing ironwork on commercial, industrial, and residential construction projects in the Greater Philadelphia area. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing a crew, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring high-quality structural steel installation on active construction sites. The position requires a working foreman who leads by example, contributes to daily production, and keeps projects organized, safe, and on schedule.
Responsibilities
• Lead and work alongside a crew of ironworkers performing structural steel erection and installation
• Plan and organize daily work activities, manpower allocation, materials, and equipment usage
• Perform rigging, connecting, detailing, and decking of structural steel components
• Read and interpret erection drawings, shop drawings, and structural plans to ensure accurate installation
• Maintain jobsite safety and enforce OSHA safety standards and procedures
• Coordinate field activities with project managers, general contractors, inspectors, and other trades
• Monitor project productivity, quality, and schedule performance
• Identify field issues early and communicate solutions to maintain progress and safety
• Train and mentor crew members through hands-on leadership and jobsite coaching
• Maintain daily reports, time tracking, and basic project documentation
• Ensure jobsites remain clean, organized, and professional at all times
• Represent the company professionally with clients, inspectors, and project partners
Requirements:
• 7+ years of structural steel erection or ironworker experience
• Prior experience as a working foreman, lead ironworker, or crew leader preferred
• Strong experience with rigging, steel connection, decking, and structural steel installation
• Ability to read and interpret erection drawings, sections, and shop drawings
• Knowledge of OSHA safety practices and Controlled Decking Zone (CDZ) procedures
• Ability to lead crews while maintaining productivity, safety, and workmanship standards
• Comfortable working at heights and in active construction environments
• Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
