Position Summary
We are seeking a talented Structural Drafter with estimating experience to join our industrial project team. This role combines technical drafting with a strong understanding of structural estimating to support pre-construction planning, bid preparation, and project execution. The ideal candidate will be able to produce accurate structural drawings while assisting estimators with quantity take-offs, material calculations, and cost analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed structural drawings, shop drawings, and sketches for industrial projects, including steel frameworks, supports, platforms, and structural modifications
Review project specifications and drawings to support accurate quantity take-offs and cost estimation
Collaborate with estimators and project managers to develop pricing based on drawings and material requirements
Revise and update drawings to reflect design changes, client feedback, and site requirements
Assist in creating bid packages, scope clarifications, and post-bid documentation
Maintain organized drawing files, standards, and documentation for estimating and project teams
Support change order pricing and updates as required
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 3 years of structural drafting experience, preferably in industrial or commercial projects
Minimum 3 years’ experience in Autodesk Inventor (structural and sheet metal)
Hands-on estimating experience or familiarity with quantity take-offs, material pricing, and cost analysis
Proficient in AutoCAD (2D and 3D)
Experience with Tekla would be an asset
Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and shop drawings
Knowledge of structural steel fabrication, welding, bolting, and erection methods
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for estimating and documentation
Preferred Assets
Experience in industrial sectors such as oil & gas, manufacturing, power, or processing facilities
Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Planswift, AutoBid)
Technical diploma or degree in Structural Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field
Understanding of codes, standards, and safety regulations in industrial structural work
