Senior Structural Project Engineer

We’re seeking a highly motivated Senior Structural Project Engineer to join our Cary, NC office. This is a unique opportunity for a licensed PE with a strong technical foundation in bridge design to take on expanded leadership responsibilities — mentoring staff, driving technical excellence, and contributing to the growth of our structural engineering practice.

The Impact You Will Have

• Lead structural design efforts for bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and other transportation structures for DOT and municipal clients

• Prepare and review structural and geometrical calculations, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and reports for bridge and transportation projects

• Provide technical oversight, quality control, and complex modeling/analysis for project elements

• Collaborate with other disciplines to coordinate project development

• Check and sign off on design calculations, quantities, and plan elements

• Lead or assist with bridge inspection field efforts (NBIS-certified bridge inspection team leader preferred)

• Mentor junior staff, helping develop technical skills and internal design standards

• Support business development through proposal writing, client outreach, and industry networking

What We’re Looking For

• B.S. or M.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering

• PE License in North Carolina (SE preferred or ability to obtain)

• Minimum of 8 years of structural design experience, including a proven track record with DOT and public sector clients

• Proficiency with NCDOT standards, Bentley CAD, and design software; experience with NCDOT WIGINS program a plus

• Strong understanding of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and DOT requirements

• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills

• Ability to manage design budgets, schedules, and deliverables

• Entrepreneurial mindset with interest in shaping and growing a structural practice

If you’re ready to combine your technical expertise with leadership and strategic impact, we’d love to hear from you.
