The Purpose

As the Strategy Lead you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of AP+, working closely with the Strategy team and Executive Leadership Team to drive high impact initiatives across Australia’s payments ecosystem. Acting as a trusted advisor, the role translates complex market, regulatory, and competitive insights into clear strategic priorities and actionable plans, while identifying growth and innovation opportunities. Operating across the organisation, the Strategy Lead connects product, technology, and industry perspectives to strengthen AP+’s position at the center of Australia’s payments infrastructure, with the opportunity to challenge the status quo and contribute to both established and emerging payment solutions.

Key Outcomes the Role Owns:

• Lead the development and execution of AP+’s enterprise strategy, ensuring alignment with the evolving Australian payments landscape.
• Structure and solve complex strategic problems, leveraging data-driven insights to inform executive decision-making.
• Identify and evaluate growth opportunities, partnerships, and innovation pathways to strengthen AP+’s market position.
• Provide clear, actionable strategic advice to the Executive Leadership Team on priorities, investments, and trade-offs.
• Monitor industry trends and the broader payments ecosystem to proactively identify risks and opportunities.
• Lead and deliver high-priority strategic initiatives end-to-end, ensuring alignment to business objectives and measurable outcomes.
• Collaborate across product, technology, operations, and industry teams to drive cohesive and integrated strategic delivery.
• Build and influence relationships across internal and external stakeholders to achieve outcomes in a complex ecosystem.

You’ll likely be a strong fit for this role if you can confidently answer “yes” to most of the following:

• 7+ years' experience working in strategic roles, preferably in a Payments organisation (but not essential).
• Deep experience working with strategic frameworks and structured problem solving.
• Consulting/internal corporate strategy experience highly preferred.
• Proven ability to operate in ambiguous, high-complexity environments and drive clarity for senior stakeholders.
• Be able to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders across different functions and lines of business.
• Be a strong problem solver with the ability to structure analysis.
• Be thoughtful, curious, future oriented, collaborative, analytical and data oriented.
