POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general direction of the Public Works Operations Manager, and assigned under direct supervision of the Storm Water Foreman and Storm Water Manager, performs storm water related construction, and service installation and distribution maintenance and repairs. Responsible for troubleshooting and correcting storm water system and pipeline operational problems.

None
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs storm water distribution maintenance; repairs storm water line breaks and failed catch basins.
Locates storm water lines and catch basins
Cleans out storm catch basins and storm drain lines.
Performs monthly inspections on city detention basins.
Records results of inspections for follow through use of Elements software; completes work tasks and records the information use of Elements software as required in the maintenance, inspection and repairs of the storm water system.
Operates and maintain vehicles and equipment, as needed.
Participates in winter snow and ice control operations.
Makes repairs and/or replacements to storm drainage lines.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education – High school diploma or G.E.D.
Experience –
Storm Water Equipment Operator I – Any work experience and training in storm water system construction or related maintenance and repairs. Experience operating heavy equipment preferred.
Storm Water Equipment Operator II – Knowledgeable in storm water system construction or related maintenance and repairs. Experience operating basic heavy equipment, jet truck, camera truck, or street sweeper preferred.
Storm Water Equipment Operator III – Proficient in storm water system construction or related maintenance and repairs. Strong leadership skills and capable of mentoring level I and II operators. Capable of loading, unloading and transporting all heavy equipment. Competent and skilled with operating a wide variety of heavy equipment. Experience operating a jet truck, and camera truck preferred.
Licenses/Certifications –
Storm Water Equipment Operator I –
Valid Utah Driver License. Must obtain a valid Class B Commercial Driver License with Tanker Endorsement within probationary period.
Following certifications required or obtained within one year of hire: Flagger and Confined Space.
Storm Water Equipment Operator II –
Valid Utah Driver License. Must obtain a valid Class B Commercial Driver License with Tanker Endorsement within probationary period.
Following certifications required or obtained within one year of hire: Heavy Equipment Training, Flagger, Confined Space, Forklift, and Traffic Control Technician.
Storm Water Equipment Operator III –
Valid Utah Driver License. Must obtain a valid Class A Commercial Driver License with Tanker Endorsement within probationary period.
Following certifications required or obtained within one year of hire: Heavy Equipment Training including Excavator and Backhoe, Flagger, Confined Space, Forklift, Traffic Control Supervisor, and OSHA 10 Hour.

Knowledge of –
Policies, procedures, equipment, and materials required for effective storm water related operations, maintenance and repairs
State of Utah Commercial Driver License rules and regulations
General safety practices and procedures required
Skilled with –
Strong math, reading, and analytical skills
Organizing and planning work assignments after instructions are given and complete a wide variety of maintenance activities
Interpersonal relations in order to deal effectively with the public and other city employees
Ability to –
Be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Position requires working outdoors. Tasks require a variety of physical activities. Regularly required to talk, hear, see, walk, sit, stand, reach, use hands/finger to feel, handle, and grip, climb or balance and stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability and discriminating thinking and creative problem solving. May be confined to small spaces to perform work. Regular exposure to wet and/or humid conditions. (Performance of duties may require working in varied weather conditions such as extreme cold or hot conditions.) Frequent exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and dusty or greasy conditions. Frequent exposure to high levels of noise. Operate equipment and drive vehicles. Must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Schedule is typically 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday; however, at times, position may be assigned to work early morning or late evening shifts, and weekends depending upon scheduling needs of the city or city facilities. May be required to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as needed.
Salary range:
Storm Water Equipment Operator I – $19.19 – $32.02 (Starting wage is dependent on experience)
Storm Water Equipment Operator II – $21.11 – $35.22 (Starting wage is dependent on experience)
Storm Water Equipment Operator III - $23.22 - $38.74 (Starting wage is dependent on experience)
