We value skilled Stick welders, invest in safety and training, and offer steady work in a team-focused manufacturing environment where craftsmanship matters.

If you’re looking for consistent work, opportunities for overtime, and a company that truly values experienced welders who know their trade, Mestex may be the right place for you.

Position Overview:

As a Stick Welder (SMAW) in our Coil Shop, you will perform free-hand welding on structural and pressure-related components that support HVAC equipment manufacturing. This role is ideal for welders who are confident welding without fixtures, can work in all positions, and understand how weld quality impacts product performance.

Mestex supports structured skill progression, from entry-level welders to advanced and lead roles, with opportunities to increase pay through demonstrated skill, quality, and leadership.

Set up and adjust welding equipment, including:

Adjust welding techniques based on joint position, material condition, and environmental factors.

Operate fabrication equipment such as grinders, band saws, and pipe cutting/threading equipment.

Verify weld size, bead profile, and dimensional accuracy using measuring tools.

Accurately charge labor time to work orders.

Complete production, inspection, and rework documentation as required.

Participate in welding qualifications, skill assessments, and re-certification activities.

Report quality concerns or defects immediately to supervision.

Maintenance & Safety:

Follow all welding safety, PPE, and environmental requirements.

Inspect welding machines, leads, electrode holders, and grounding connections prior to use.

Perform basic preventive maintenance, including replacing damaged cables and worn components.

Properly store and handle electrodes, including maintaining E7018 rods in heated ovens.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area free of slag buildup and trip hazards.

Safely handle hot materials and slag using proper tools and PPE.

Operate overhead cranes and lifting devices as required.
